While traditionally attracting over 60s through its doors, Mole Valley District Council’s Fairfield Centre is a busy social-hub in Leatherhead that offers a meeting place for people of a range of ages to socialise. There are numerous fun classes and activities available that help to improve the physical and mental wellbeing of members, who also have the option of indulging in delicious home-cooked daily lunches.
Each class will exclusively be available to trial for free during January’s Open Week. The exercise classes aiming to increase mobility, balance and fitness include: Tai Chi; Chi Kung; Yoga Gold; Pilates; Line dancing; Music and Movement. In addition to keeping the body active, there’s also plenty to keep the mind busy too, including: memory games; a knitting group; bingo; computer and art classes.
Annual membership at the Fairfield Centre starts at only £13 per person and a joint membership for couples is available for £18.50. For more information about what’s on offer, please visit www.molevalley.gov.uk/fairfieldcentre, email firstname.lastname@example.org, call 01372 376058 or drop in to the Centre, located at 34 Swan Court, off Leret Way, Leatherhead, KT22 8AH.
Councillor David Hawksworth CBE, Cabinet Member for Wellbeing, said “The Fairfield Centre and the range of activities it offers is not as well-known as it could be to residents. This Open Week allows you to experience just what the centre offers, without having to join. We are keen to improve health and wellbeing and reduce social isolation across the district. Start the year by finding something new and challenging to participate in.”
