Independence Technology

Providing help at the touch of a button 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Our trusted, local and reliable service provides independence, security and peace of mind at home.

Pressing the button on your community alarm opens the line with our friendly specialised team based in Leatherhead, Surrey, who have all the user’s information to hand and will respond appropriately, by contacting a family member or neighbour, or calling the emergency services.

The alarm was more than useful, it is a lifeline, and I wish all older people could have a lifeline, it’s a necessity. I couldn’t be without it.”

How does it work?

Our basic package consists of an alarm base unit, which has an emergency button built into it and a pendant, which you can wear around your neck or wrist. The equipment is linked via your phone line to our monitoring centre which is staffed by trained operators 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

If you need help you simply activate the alarm by the pressing the pendant or the alarm on the base unit. A signal is then sent directly to our care centre and answered by an operator who will know who you are, where you are and has access to your emergency contacts. Your emergency contacts may be a relative, neighbour or a close-by friend, who can get to you quickly. In an extreme emergency this could be police, ambulance or the fire service.

“It took me a while to get used to the fact that I needed it, but I feel safe now.”

The pendant works even if you are in a different room to the base unit or in your garden (approximately 80-100 foot away). An adaptor is also available which allows those with limited strength to operate the pendant. Additional alarms and sensors can be connected to other existing alarm equipment, which can be used to alert us to various situations regardless of whether you are at home or away from your property.

As an addition, other environmental sensors that link through the community alarm, can protect the user within the home by sending an alert to our monitoring centre if activated. Specialist equipment is also available that can help users stay independent for longer at home.
