Casual Passenger Assistant

To provide robust travel assistance to all passengers on the community busses and give school children the best chance in life to be confident and successful in their travels between home and school.

To assist with the care and safeguarding of Home to School Transport, following company policies and procedures as set out in the Surrey County Council Code of Conduct and Driver and Escort Guidance Notes.

Where necessary, to assist/escort those people who experience difficulty in leaving and returning from their homes. This may require the use of wheelchairs, walking aids, and the tail-lift as required.

Ensuring equity of access to services to children that find it hard to cope with change or social isolation

To work with families, schools and providers and promote independence to the passengers

Assess risks around the well being of the passengers in order to prove a positive experience to passengers

Meet and greet passengers at home or at school

To support with any health or other emergencies that may arise

To be aware of the Council’s policy on Risk Management and to escalate any new, emerging or potential risks to the post holder’s line manager.

Carry out such duties as may be required by your manager as appropriate to the post

To ensure that all necessary data is provided in an accurate, reliable and timely manner and, is fit for purpose in accordance with the Council’s Data Quality Policy.

About you

  • First Aid at Work trained or be capable of passing the First Aid at Work qualification
  • To have a flexible attitude towards working hours
  • To have a strong customer experience awareness
  • Aware of child protection and safeguarding
  • Understanding of those with mental health disabilities
  • Demonstrates commitment to equality and diversity in both the delivery of service and in relationships with colleagues

Working hours: 07:00-09:30am and 15:00-17:00pm – term time only

Salary: £9.50 per hour
