Mr and Mrs C’s Vaccination Transport Story

January 2021

Please note that for your safety, face coverings must be correctly fitted before boarding.

When Mr and Mrs C received the call to say that they would be having their vaccinations, they were delighted but concerned about how they would get there; the people Mr and Mrs C usually rely on for transport are vulnerable themselves and they did not want to put them at risk of catching Coronavirus.

After many phone calls, including one up to a call centre in Glasgow (!) Mrs C was delighted when the call came through from Chris at Mole Valley Life: Mobile (Mole Valley District Council’s Community Transport) to say that Mole Valley Life (MVL) would be able to provide transport to their vaccination appointments in one of MVL’s COVID secure minibuses and at no cost to themselves.

Mrs C said, “It was a huge weight off knowing that Mole Valley Life: Mobile (MVL) would be able to take us to the vaccination centre at Epsom. We did not want to put the people we usually rely on for lifts at risk, as they are vulnerable themselves. Speaking to Chris and hearing about the measures MVL put in place to ensure the buses are COVID secure instantly put us at ease.”

On vaccination day, things ran very smoothly. Chris picked up Mr and Mrs C from their home in Leatherhead and took them directly to the entrance of the vaccination centre at Epsom Race Course in good time for their appointments. There was no queue meaning Mr and Mrs C were vaccinationed without delay and were ready to be collected within the hour. Chris picked them up from the exit and dropped them back off home in time for afternoon tea!

Of the service, Mrs C said, “I would 100% recommend Mole Valley Life: Mobile to others and couldn’t fault their service. We will certainly be using them to take us to our follow-up vaccination appointments and are now considering becoming members, so that MVL can transport us safely to our other medical appointments.”

Mole Valley Life: Mobile’s Community Transport Manager, Richard Fauvet said, “Prior to COVID Vaccination deployment, we worked closely with our local NHS partners to develop a plan to help facilitate this vital immunisation programme through the use of our fleet of COVID-secure minibuses. Mr and Mrs C’s experience is testament to the necessity of this service, as well as the peace of mind and assurance travelling with us provides. As the vaccination programme gathers pace, we look forward to assisting more of Mole Valley’s residents with their transportation needs.”
