As restrictions start to ease and the weather begins to improve, now could be the time to start a new hobby or rediscover a past activity. There is plenty to do in our beautiful district, here are just some of the activities you could enjoy:
Wellbeing Walks (previously Walk for Health)
Operated by Mole Valley District Council and a team of friendly volunteers, Wellbeing Walks are a programme of fun, free and accessible volunteer-led walks, bringing people together to socialise and motivate one another. The walks last between 30 – 90 minutes, ideal for anyone who would like to start becoming more active or keep fit and healthy. Walking can help us to feel happier and healthier, reducing the risk of heart disease and conditions such as breast cancer and dementia. Find out more.
Dorking Lawn Tennis and Squash Club (DLTSC)
A members’ club that prides itself on its friendly atmosphere. DLTSC offer excellent tennis, squash and squash 57 facilities for individuals, couples and families across all age groups and standards. There is also a small gym and The Club has a clubhouse and bar which host extensive and regular social activities when Coronavirus restrictions allow. Find out more.
Exercise on Referral
Exercise on referral is a programme of discounted, supervised activity at Dorking Sports Centre or Leatherhead Leisure Centre for the prevention, improvement and/or medical management of individual health conditions. Referrals to the programme can be made by health professionals including GPs, physios, mental health professionals, district nurses and occupational therapists. Find out more.
Bookham Bowling Club
Bookham Bowling Club are one of the larger Clubs in Surrey. In addition to the summer outdoor bowls season they also have a Short Mat indoor section which meets in the Old Barn Hall on Monday evenings during the winter. Weekly Whist and social events take place in the Pavilion. New members are always welcome and they offer a comprehensive programme of coaching for both new bowlers and those who wish to brush up their skills. Find out more.
